Gillette Woods Association, Inc. Welcome to Gillette Woods About Gillette Woods is a private residential community located in and around Tryon North Carolina. It was first developed in 1927 and named after the actor William Gillette who previously owned the entire 700 acre area. The community now consists of nearly 300 singlefamily properties within the boundaries of the development. The Gillette Woods Association was founded on November 28 1945 by a committee comprised of likeminded residents who wished to preserve the tranquility and beauty of theGillette Woods neighborhood.
