CURe, The Foundation for Compassionate Use Reform
Compassionate Use Reform #compassionateuse #expandedaccess #compassionateusereform CURe is a non-profit organization (501c3) determined to get to YES for compassionate use for patients who want to fight to LIVE. The mission of CURe, The Foundation for Compassionate Use Reform (hereafter “CURe") is dedicated to engaging and educating public and private entities to innovate and advocate for meaningful compassionate use solutions, policies, and practices, so no person has to beg for access to potentially life-saving medical treatment when there are no alternatives. CURe was organized on February 26th, 2014, exclusively for educational and charitable purposes:(1) To better educate patients with life-threatening health condition, their caregivers, health care providers, and the general public on accessing compassionate use of potentially life-saving, experimental medical treatments (2) To seek innovative solutions to improving the rate at which terminally ill patients are successful in obtaining compassionate access to medical treatments under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Expanded Access program.CURe plans to achieve its purposes through two primary sets of activities:(1) CURe will educate terminally ill patients, their caregivers, and their health care providers through a web portal with straightforward, accessible language and a user-friendly interface. (See details in Section III.A)(2) Through research, analysis, and collaboration across all stakehodlers in compassionate use (patients, health care providers, pharmaceutical companies, government), CURe will seek innovative solutions to lower civil and private sector barriers that deter patients with life-threatening illnesses from benefitting from FDA's Expanded Access program. CURe will then work to see the adoption of promising solutions.
