Is that a swimming rabbit? Sure is - that’s the Swamp Rabbit! These semi-aquatic mammals are found in wetlands like those along the River Boardwalk Trail. They are large, but very well camouflaged and tend to be more nocturnal so they’re not as often seen. Due to habitat loss, Swamp Rabbits are species of concern in some of its range across the Southeast. Swamp rabbits swim, submerge, and even dive to escape predators!
