StageQ aims to celebrate and advance queer representation through theatre written by and about LGBTQ+ persons // In Rehearsals: Act a Lady// Currently Running: Wisconsin's LGBTQ+ community theatre company, telling queer stories on stage since 2001. StageQ is a community theater company that creates entertaining, inspiring, and socially challenging queer theater while also building community and bravely encouraging positive social change. Established in 2001 and based in Madison, StageQ is run by a nine-person board that is actively involved in both leadership of the company and its day-to-day operations. Everything we accomplish is through the efforts of volunteers and volunteer opportunities at StageQ are many and varied. That means we are easily accessible to Dane County's LGBTQ+ community and the community at large. Casting in our productions is open to anyone who wishes to try out for roles. Beyond that, however, we seek volunteer stage hands, directors, producers, set designers, costume designers, lighting and sound experts, box office crew, graphic designers, and marketing specialists.
