Haiti Dautrefois
On January 2010, an extremely destructive earthquake leveled Haiti’s architecture. The history of Haiti reflects a proud nation with beautiful landscapes and rich culture. The inspiration and vision for Haiti DAutrefois stem from the collection of photographs by Dr. Johnny Sandaire DCS, a photojournalist who captured, during his visit to Haiti from 1979 to 1986, some of Haiti's most attractive landscapes. Johnny travelled throughout the island, photographing Haiti's architectural landscapes, its people, and cultural events. As a result of the January 2010 earthquake, most of these priceless, unique, and monumental sites were destroyed and are now lost forever. A recent exhibit of Dr. Sandaire's photographic collection of that period on Facebook and other photographic Exhibits generated a passionate interest, stimulating the launch of Haiti DAutrefois. The organization’s mission is to educate the general public about the beauty of Haiti, promote a new flux of tourism into this paradise island, and hopefully revive Haiti's status as the "Pearl of the Antilles."
