Happy Day 5 of #NTAAAW! 🎭🎨 We’re ending National Teaching Artists Appreciation Week with Morgan, an amazing Dance and Theater Teaching Artist, and current performer in Boop on Broadway! A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), Morgan has brought her talents to a range of Arts Ignite programs locally, nationally, and internationally since 2019. When asked about a moment that encapsulates the positive impact of arts education, Morgan immediately thought of one student in our Newcomer Youth Theater Experience (NYTE) residency - “There was a student that displayed behavior some would have labeled as troubled. Instead of putting that student in a category, our team put what he gave us into the final showcase, and that became his form of storytelling. For the next week we watched him beam and blossom and turn into a performer!” Reflecting on her work with Arts Ignite, Morgan says that“It’s important that we help the youth find different ways of creation, collaboration, and expression. That’s what we do at Arts Ignite. As an artist, it‘s also a constant reminder to keep my mind open to all different kinds of people, ideas, and ways of thinking.” Like the other Teaching Artists we interviewed, we asked Morgan what inspires her most about Arts Ignite students, and she shared the following words: “The creativity they embody. The stories we are able to tell and share from that creativity are always so beautiful and full of life.” (fb)
