Education Française à New York (EFNY) is a nonprofit organization established in 2005, aimed at promoting French language education and culture among children in New York City public schools. Founded by a group of French-speaking families, EFNY's mission is to provide practical and affordable French language instruction, ensuring that children can maintain their linguistic heritage while integrating into the educational framework of New York City.

History

EFNY originated from the desire of French-speaking parents to create a supportive educational environment for their children. The organization started by organizing Saturday classes and French language playgroups but quickly recognized the need for a more structured approach to language acquisition. In 2006, EFNY launched its French enrichment language programs (FLAM) in various public schools, which have since evolved to meet the needs of the francophone community. Over the years, EFNY has expanded its initiatives, significantly contributing to the establishment of French dual-language programs in New York City, including those at PS 58 in Brooklyn and PS 84 in Manhattan. These programs have allowed over 1,000 students to benefit from bilingual education.
