HER Faith Ministries Incorporated

HER Faith Ministries Incorporated is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing poverty and homelessness among women and children, primarily in Memphis and Shelby County. Founded in 2008 by Rev. Dr. Elaine Y. Sanford, the ministry is an affiliate of the National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Purpose and Programs

HER Faith Ministries focuses on providing critical support services, including:

• Emergency Assistance: Offering food, clothing, and assistance with rent and utilities to those in need.
• Medical Care: Initially providing dental and eye care; however, some medical assistance programs were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Spiritual Guidance and Mentoring: Providing spiritual support and mentorship to help individuals stabilize their lives.
• Family Support Services: Offering family counseling and programs aimed at empowering mothers and creating safe environments for children.

Impact and Adaptation

Over its 15-year history, the ministry has assisted hundreds of women with children. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, HER Faith Ministries adjusted its focus to address immediate needs such as emergency food, baby supplies, and housing assistance.

Leadership

Rev. Dr. Elaine Y. Sanford serves as the Executive Director of HER Faith Ministries. She is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and holds a Doctorate in Theological Studies. Prior to her ministry work, Dr. Sanford had careers in marketing, public relations, and broadcast journalism.
