Mission and Objectives
The Harlan Institute aims to equip the next generation of leaders with a comprehensive understanding of the law through innovative educational programs. Central to its mission is the development of condensed law school courses that can be delivered at no cost to high schools. -
Virtual Supreme Court Competition: This program allows students to participate in mock Supreme Court cases, where they research, write briefs, and argue cases in a simulated environment. The competition culminates in a championship round held in Washington, D.C., where top teams present their arguments before federal judges.
-
Collaborative Education: The Institute partners with various organizations, such as iCivics and the American Institute for History Education, to provide resources and support for teachers and students. These partnerships enhance the educational content offered and ensure that it stays relevant and impactful.

- Josh Blackman: President & Co-Founder
- Ilya Shapiro: Secretary
- Stephen Richer: Treasurer & Director of Outreach
