Base 11

Base 11 is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to empowering high-potential, low-resource students and early-career adults, particularly women and minorities, with the necessary Access, Awareness, and Belief to succeed in the Next Frontier Industries of the 21st century.

History and Mission

Established under the leadership of Landon Taylor in 2015, Base 11 initially set a goal to accelerate the paths of 11,000 students toward STEM degrees, jobs, and entrepreneurship by 2021. This goal was achieved a year ahead of schedule in 2020. Following this success, Base 11 expanded its mission to empower over 100,000 individuals by 2030 through its Next Frontier Initiative. The initiative focuses on industries that are rapidly growing and offer high-income opportunities but have historically been underrepresented by communities from low-resource backgrounds.

Programs and Facilities

  • Next Frontier Programs: These programs aim to provide students with the resources and connections required to excel in emerging STEM fields. They include hands-on learning experiences, mentorship, professional development, and access to networking opportunities.
  • Next Frontier Events: These include virtual and in-person conferences, workshops, and innovation sessions designed to expose participants to critical information and industry connections.
  • Next Frontier Facilities: Base 11 partners with educational institutions to offer state-of-the-art innovation centers and labs where students can engage in real-world STEM projects. Some of these facilities are located at institutions like Skyline College, the University of California, Irvine, and Morgan State University.

Partnerships and Initiatives

Base 11 collaborates with academic institutions, nonprofits, and industry partners to ensure that its programs are comprehensive and impactful. Notable partners include leading universities and organizations such as The Executive Leadership Council. One of its significant partnerships involves the Parity Project, a national initiative aimed at achieving parity in STEM representation and corporate leadership for African Americans by 2030.

Impact and Recognition

Base 11 has been recognized for its efforts in bridging the gap between underrepresented groups and the STEM workforce. Its programs have empowered numerous students to pursue STEM careers and entrepreneurship, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive STEM industry landscape.

Founding and Leadership

Base 11 is a DBA of the Center for Innovations in Education, and its founding is attributed to Landon Taylor, who serves as its founder and chairman. The organization operates with a mission to disrupt conventional STEM pathways by offering innovative educational and career development opportunities.

IRS Identification

Base 11 is registered with the IRS under EIN 26-4365936.
