Refuge in Carmel, CA - America's First Co-Ed Outdoor Relaxation...
America's 1st Co-ed Relaxation Spa, offering you the Ultimate Relaxation Experience! Refuge is America's 1st Co-ed Relaxation Spa Refuge is a gallery that connects artists with the public, where art is the catalyst to communicate the barrier of addiction and the success of recovery. It is a refuge to support, educate, nurture, protect and inspire those who have lost their way by the power of drugs, alcohol or other distractions that have taken over their life. Here the artist is gently pulled along a healing path of his or her own design, while being provided with hope, determination, and self-confidence in the art created. Since being founded in June of 2005, we have taken our mission to great heights and strive to continue to further our cause. Refuge is an entirely voluntary effort for those serving on the board, jurying and mounting exhibits, holding workshops, and developing public awareness programs. The goal of Refuge has always been to support individuals who are recovering from addictions in their efforts to return to a healthy and productive life, and realize success resulting from their own human creative potential. We have offered various workshops dedicated to the personal growth of those recovering, and provided many juried and non-juried art exhibitions. In turn, we have made thriving, supportive relationships with a growing number of recovering artists, and have helped to share their experiences, strengths and hopes with the world. Their art explores life experiences that touch on torment, celebration of strength, resolve, and hope achieved through personal and spiritual growth. Refuge has allowed for this unique communication through art, and serves as a backdrop for public awareness and education in the many issues that affect those individuals recovering from addiction. We continue to be an important bridge between the art and the recovery communities, connecting the best in resources to help people and raise awareness of issues affecting the lives of addicts.
