A 24-hour giving challenge to support Sacramento region nonprofits 💛 #BDOG2025: May 1, 2025 🎉 A program of @sacregcf Big Day of Giving is the Sacramento region's day-long giving challenge that has raised over $104 million for area nonprofits since 2013! Building Empowerment Skills Today (BEST) is a subsidiary of Williams Memorial Development (WMD). We believe one of the critical ways to stop violence and crime in our communities is by exposing underserved youth to activities, which bolster their job experience, give them a sense of self- worth and keep them off the streets. The Oak Park community that we serve is riddled with deprivation, crime and a sense of impassiveness. BEST is a three-week summer program in Oak Park for teens, ages 12-18. Through the training, that we provide, the youth learn how to help their neighbors with yard work, such as raking and weed abatement, plus valuable “life skills”. In addition; they gain a sense of pride and develop a strong sense of work ethics.
