OLD YORK ROAD HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Old York Road Historical Society

Founded in 1936, OYRHS collects, preserves, interprets and promotes the history, folklore, and cultural attributes of the Old York Road Communities. The mission of the Old York Road Historical Society is to study and preserve the history and folklore of the communities along the Old York Road corridor. To this end, the Society sponsors a number of programs and maintains a research library and archives located on the second floor of Alverthorpe Manor. While we study the history of the communities along the Old York Road from Philadelphia to New Hope, we specialize in the history of eastern Montgomery County comprised of the townships of Abington, Cheltenham, Lower Moreland, and Upper Moreland and the boroughs of Bryn Athyn, Hatboro, Jenkintown, and Rockledge.
