Our very own Matthew Lipman returns to the Chicago area for a performance at the Harris Theater on 4/23/25. Six string players, including Paul Huang, violin; Danbi Um, violin; Matthew Lipman, viola; Timothy Ridout, viola; David Finckel, cello Sihao He, cello; will join forces in the Chamber Music Society’s final Harris Theater performance of the season. After beginning with Bach, who used six voices to compose his fugue-on-demand for Frederick the Great, the group divides in two for string trios by Haydn and Schubert, before re-combining in two blockbuster works for sextet by Strauss (the opening from his opera Capriccio) and Tchaikovsky (Souvenir de Florence). Tickets available at the link below. (fb)
