Natural history museum and raptor center The American Bald Eagle Foundation is dedicated to the protection and preservation of bald eagle habitat through sponsoring and facilitating education and research activities. The American Bald Eagle Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization located in Haines, Alaska. Since opening in 1994, our aim is to educate and inspire guests from around the world about the American bald eagle and interconnected species through our natural history museum and raptor center.Anyone who passes through our doors will take a walk through the cultural and natural history of Southeast Alaska. Let our staff guide you to understanding and appreciating the ecology of our unique region.The Foundation strives to make research available to everyone who wishes to live in greater harmony with the eagles' environment. During 2016 the Foundation hosted 18664 guests. During 2016 it had 12 live birds that resided on the premises. Additionally the Foundation has made presentation to 2219 children during 2016.The American Bald Eagle Foundation is located in Haines, Alaska.The American Bald Eagle Foundation is a two part organization dedicated to the education and conservation of our national bird and its habitat throughout North America. The first half our of organization is a natural history museum with over 200 Southeast Alaskan specimens. The second half of our facility is a raptor center. Currently we house 12 avian ambassadors.Known as the “adventure capital of Alaska", Haines is a small community in Southeast Alaska on the upper Lynn Canal. The American Bald Eagle Foundation is about three blocks from the center of town and two blocks from the cruise ship docks.
