Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union (UCSJ). Defending human rights and the rule of law throughout Eurasia. UCSJ is a Washington, DC-based NGO that reports on the human rights situation in countries throughout Organizational long-term history and experience of work behind both sides of iron curtain in modern suppressive times for former Soviet territory develops a great necessity, as they seem to be demanded, when current totalitarian regimes in Eurasia resemble not that old history. The UCSJ’s work experience is unique, as UCSJ uses grassroots monitoring-based advocacy and humanitarian aid to protect the Jewish heritage, the political and physical safety of the people considering ongoing unrest and rising antisemitism. UCSJ is a member in many international civil platforms and maintains strong collegial relationship with human rights NGOs of the region with representatives in Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Russia, and other countries of the region.
