Georgia Extension 4-H Foundation
Ever since the Joro spider first turned up in Georgia, we've all wondered if and when a natural predator for the species might appear. It turns out the answer might actually be other Joro spiders, at least according to a new study by UGA's Andy Davis. While studying the spiders, Davis and his students observed that pairs would turn hostile during stressful situations and even resort to cannibalism, which is unusual to see outside of mating.
