Please see below from the Missouri Council of the Blind FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 2025 Missouri Council of the Blind Offers Tornado Relief Assistance to Visually Impaired Missourians Affected by St. Louis Storm. ST. LOUIS, MO In the aftermath of the devastating tornado that struck the St. Louis area causing widespread damage, the Missouri Council of the Blind (MCB) is offering emergency relief and financial assistance to blind and low-vision residents throughout Missouri who have been impacted by the storm. Blind or low-vision individuals in the St. Louis area who have experienced storm damage due to the tornado are encouraged to apply for assistance. To Apply for Assistance: • Call the MCB office at 314-832-7172 and leave a detailed voicemail. • Email: aa@moblind.org Please include your name, contact information, and a brief description of the storm-related damage. • Online Application: www.moblind.org Applications will be reviewed promptly; Priority will be given to applicants with verified visual impairments and demonstrated need. “For nearly 70 years, MCB has been a trusted advocate and support system for the blind and low-vision community in Missouri,” said Gregg Hollins, President of the Missouri Council of the Blind. “Today, we are extending a helping hand to our community members who have suffered storm-related damage and need immediate support.” Tracy Anderson, Vice President of the Missouri Council of the Blind said, “This isn’t just a moment to act - it’s a mission we’ve upheld for generations.
