The McNabb Foundation hosts a variety of special events, capital campaigns, and special projects to improve lives and support the work of the McNabb Center, which provides mental health care, substance use, social and victim services in East Tennessee. The Helen Ross McNabb Foundation was founded and exists today for the purpose of supporting the Helen Ross McNabb Center. Founded in 1948, the Helen Ross McNabb Center was the first community mental health facility in the State of Tennessee. Today, it is a regional, not-for-profit, integrated system of mental health, substance abuse, and social services with 85 locations in 29East Tennessee counties. Throughout its history, the Center's goal has been to compassionately provide quality mental health services to the greater Knoxville community. This goal remains unchanged. The Center continues to refine and reorganize current services and develop new programs and partnerships in response to and in anticipation of changes in the health care market.

A group of 38 law enforcement officers, first responders and health care professionals graduated from Crisis Intervention Team training today. The graduates underwent 40 hours of intensive training, which helps them identify mental health resources to assist individuals in crisis. This graduating class included staff from the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Knoxville Police Department - TN, Maryville Police Department-TN, Alcoa Police Department, University of Tennessee Police Department, Knoxville Fire Department - TN, UT Medical Center, Blount Memorial Hospital, East Tennessee Children's Hospital, Knox County Schools Security Division, McNabb Center, Quest Movement and American Medical Response A special thank you to Charme Allen, District Attorney General - Knoxville, TN and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs for attending and speaking.
