MOSAIC Community Land Trust provides permanently affordable housing and healthy living choices to people of modest means, and through education and participation, creates a vital community with a focus on arts and culture to stabilize neighborhoods and improve the quality of life in Pottstown.How The Mosaic Community Land Trust operatesThe Mosaic Community Land Trust is a private, non-profit community organization thatprovides affordable housing opportunities to families with limited incomes. The Land Trustacquires, renovates and constructs residential and mixed use buildings, sells or leases thebuildings and permanently owns the land on which the buildings are located. The land is leasedto the owner for a nominal fee. Since all subsidies remain in the building and there is no cost forthe ground, acquisition costs are lower than market rate. As the home is truly their own, itprovides the homeowners with the same permanence and security as conventional buyers.VisionBy the end of the fifth year the Mosaic CLT will achieve the following: 400 members 10 residential units 1-2 major mixed-use joint ventures with public/private partners that radically change theway visitors, investors, business folks, and residents view Pottstown; projects that includethe arts, food, housing, and green endeavours 1-2 Green Spaces 4 Community Gardens Thriving partnerships with private residential builders and developers, government,schools, arts groups and individual artists, and the health & wellness community. Staffing to include Executive director, gardens manager• Mosaic will support itself through membership and ground lease fees, rental income,consulting, property management and developer fees, commissions from art sales,foundation funding, government grants, CRA funds, business sponsorships and privatedonors.• Realization of the CLT model with tripartite representation, 1/3 residents, 1/3 CLThomeowners, 1/3 public sector.• 100% participation of CLT residents and leaseholders in essential community activities.Behavioral Values of Board MembersAll Board Members are committed to practicing these core behavioral values:• Respectful inquiry and advocacy• Spirit of cooperation• A sense of service• Commitment to and participation in the improvement and revitalization of Pottstown.Individual Board members may have specific interests in one or more of these preferredMosaic Community Land Trust areas of focus:• Abiding interest in the arts and support for the arts community• Interest in property stewardship• Abiding interest in promoting health and wellness• Entrepreneurship
