Today, students explored Tel Aviv on the last day of our Brandeis Birthright trip! Some recent highlights: students went on a food tour of Tel Aviv, floated in the Dead Sea, climbed Masada, relaxed under the stars of the Negev, learned about Holocaust history at Yad Vashem, listened to survivor testimony at the Nova site, and planted a garden to greet the evacuated residents of Kibbutz Sufa. It is particularly moving to be in Israel to mark the 600th day since October 7th. As always, our hearts are with the 58 hostages who remain in Gaza, and we pray for their swift return. Shabbat Shalom from Jerusalem! Some Brandeis Birthright trip highlights so far: exploring the history of Jewish mysticism in Tzfat, enjoying water sports in Tiberias, sampling Druze cuisine in Daliyat al-Karmel, learning about the various Aliyot in Zikhron Ya'akov, visiting the Kotel in Jerusalem, and reflecting on Jewish identity throughout. Next up: Kabbalat Shabbat! While our Birthright cohort explores Eretz Yisrael, our hearts are with the Jewish community in Washington, D.C. and the families, colleagues, and friends of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, two Israeli Embassy staff members who were senselessly murdered outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday night.
