OC PoundHounds Nonprofit Small Breed Rescue Making A Difference One Dog At A Time Our Mission Philosphy OCPoundHounds focus is to rescue primarily Pomeranians Papillons and Toy Hairless breeds such as Chinese Crested Xolos Mexican Hairless and breedstandard Chihuahuas from local Southern California High Kill shelters or from commercial breeding operations. The dogs we rescue from the shelters are those who have primarily been placed on the euthanasia lists for medical issues cruelty andor neglect cases seniors or just because the shelter is overcrowded and has to make space for incoming dogs. The commercial breeding operation dogs we rescue are those being auctioned or are being retired from breeding and placed on Craigslist or surrendered to shelters usually at around the 8 year old age range. These dogs usually end up in the Sanctuary and Hospice part of OC Poundhounds called One Last Good Home which is based in SW Washington State and offers a last home for whatever quality time a dog has Once we commit to rescuing a dog we evaluate and focus on socialization positive reinforcement behaviour training NOT compulsion Cesar Milan military prong andor choke collars but training as advocated by Kikopet.
