MOOREFIELDS HAS A RICH TRADITION DATING TO THE MID-20TH CENTURY OF STEWARDS WHO HONOR AND PROTECT ITS HISTORY, CELEBRATE THE ARTS, AND PROTECT THE WILDLIFE HABITATS AND NATURAL AREAS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO THIS PLACE. THE MISSION OF THE FRIENDS OF MOOREFIELDS IS TO ENHANCE AND SHARE THESE PRIORITIES THROUGH: - MAINTAINING AND PRESERVING THE MOOREFIELDS HISTORIC HOME AND GROUNDS; - ACTING AS A VALUABLE RESOURCE FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION, INVESTIGATING AND SHARING WITH THE PUBLIC THE CULTURAL HISTORY OF ALL THOSE WHO LIVED AND WORKED AT MOOREFIELDS; - FOSTERING APPRECIATION OF THE ARTS BY ENGAGING DIVERSE AUDIENCES IN EVENTS, PROGRAMS AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES; AND - SAFEGUARDING THE SITE'S WATERWAYS, PROTECTING ITS NATURAL HABITATS, AND CONNECTING PEOPLE WITH NATURE AND HISTORY THROUGH PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT, AND PARTICIPATION IN THE NC MOUNTAINS-TO-SEA TRAIL.
