Friends of the International Mathematical Union
IMU is an international non-governmental and non-profit scientific organization, with the purpose of promoting international cooperation in mathematics. The IMU is also a member of the International Council for Science (ICSU). To build support in the United States for the International Mathematical Union (IMU); To help build bridges for members of the U.S. mathematics research and higher education communities to contribute to the support as volunteers of the programs of the IMU; To generate financial support in the U.S. for IMU efforts to nurture mathematicians and the infrastructure for mathematics in developing countries; To recognize excellence of mathematical scholarship worldwide.
